A viewer’s father is getting up in years and she is worried about his affairs. Is there something she can do?
Haley Bianco: Time once again for “The Law & You,” featuring the area’s premier attorneys who never get off their cell phones. Ed Ciarimboli and Greg Fellerman are here fumbling with their phones, constantly busy, constantly answering your questions and helping you out.
Ed Ciarimboli: I was trying to respond to a client.
Haley: So let’s see what Rebecca has to say from Hazleton. Rebecca says, “My dad is getting older and I am concerned about his affairs. What can I do?”
Ed: It sounds like me and Greg. Greg is getting older and I’m concerned about his affairs. I mean there’s a number of things that you can do. So we have an estate department at our law firm now and you really got to do some planning. You got to sit down and talk to Alex Russin. Alex is terrific at handling these matters and just talk about what your dad has, what are the concerns that you have. Not only financial but also from a medical standpoint. And then craft documents that are going to help not only today, not only next week, but three-five years into the future.
Greg Fellerman: I agree. It’s important to do the consultations now, to do the planning now. Once you get those documents in place, they’re much easier to change if things change in your life. So it’s all about planning with these because the last thing you want to be is on the wrong side of this. If someone passed away and there’s nothing, we get calls like that all the time, and it’s just chaos. So, we do it now. Doing it because everyone asks us to do it.
Ed: I promise I’ll take care of you.
Haley: Are you older than him?
Greg: Not by much.
Haley: Close? I can’t tell who looks older. There will be another question for you. You can reach out, call them on the phone. You can find them online or on social media. Guys, thanks for your time today, you old men. Thanks for being here with us today.
