Opioid Lawsuits | Have They Stopped

Haley Bianco: It’s time once again for “The Law & You!” Joining us today at home we have attorneys Greg Fellerman and Ed Ciarimboli. Hi guys! How’s it going?

Ed Ciarimboli: Good! How are you doing, today?

Haley: Hanging in there, ya know? Taking it day by day. Looking forward to May 8th when things might start to begin getting back to normal.

Greg: Yeah. Exciting.

Haley: Yeah, looking forward to it!

Ed: Very!

Haley: But in the meantime, you’re still giving us some great legal advice from the comfort of your homes. You’re answering this question today from Marilyn in Sugarloaf, she says: “What is going on with the opioid lawsuits? Have they stopped?”

Ed: That’s a great question. They have not stopped. In fact, I was on a Zoom call the other day with the judge out in Ohio. He did a call and indicated very clear that his expectation is that these are going to continue moving forward. As I’m sure some of the viewers know there had been some talks about some settlements and resolutions but nothing yet has been finalized. Globally, there have been some settlements with some of the defendants, but the cases are still moving forward. And the first bellwether is still scheduled to start in October. And bellwether means the first case that’s going to really go to trial out in the multidistrict in Ohio. We just signed up a new borough the other day. Submitted them and, so, things are still moving forward on the opioid lawsuits. Ya know as they should.

Greg: Yeah, and I think the thing with these cases is there’s going to be a resolution one way or another. I think all the municipalities states have been affected, so you think you have a claim and you haven’t done something and you’re involved with a city/state, whatever, pick up the phone and give us a call we have a good handle on it, and hopefully we’ll be able to recover from this for the people that really deserve it.

Haley: Alright so you heard them, pick up the phone and give them a call. Guys, thanks for your time and advice today. If you at home have questions for “The Law & You,” go to PAHomepage.com.
