Dave Kuharchik: It is time once again for “The Law & You” and we have a very special edition of “The Law & You” from the virtual law center tonight. Of course, you know attorneys Greg Fellerman and Ed Ciarimboli but attorney Jim Haggarty is joining the gang tonight. Good to see you all.
Ed Ciarimboli: Oh it’s a big day. A big weekend.
Dave: A big weekend in Edwardsville, of course, with the annual Pierogi Fest and there’s been some controversy that has been going on and that’s what we’re going to address tonight.
Ed: Mr. Haggerty.
Jmaes Haggerty: Well, the nice people in the Edwardsville Hometown Committee, that runs the pierogi festival and raise money for charity, got a letter from a pierogi festival in Indiana. A much bigger pierogi festival threatened to sue the Edwardsville pierogi festival for using the name Pierogi Fest and for having a pierogi festival. Greg, Eddie, and I found out about it and we volunteered to help the Edwardsville Hometown Committee and we sued the Indiana people in Scranton federal court. It turned out very well, we saved the pierogi festival and the pierogi festival will be going on forever.
Dave: And that’s important because pierogis are in our blood here in Northeastern and Central PA. I understand many of us are going to be judging the big event on Saturday?
Greg Fellerman: I’ll be there.
Dave: Greg will be there. Attorney Jim.
James: I’ll be there.
Ed: I’ll be present but I won’t be judging.
Dave: All right, I love judging it. I’ve been doing it the last couple of years and it’s a very fun event. It’s a big event and I think this really highlights what our community is all about.
Ed: Well, he (James) stepped up to the plate. There’s nobody smarter than him and when he put his mind to this, it was going to get done.
James: Well I appreciate that, Ed. But, we used all of our resources and it turned out very well. But the people of Edwardsville really fought for their pierogi festival and the credit belongs to the nice people in Edwardsville that run the festival. And they do all the hard work and they won this case. They really did.
Dave: You know, now that the legal work is out of the way, the real question is answered on Saturday, “Who has the best pierogi?” We’re going to get to work. Don’t forget in the meantime, results matter with attorneys Greg Fellerman and Ed Ciarimboli and attorney Jim Haggerty. Thanks for being our special guest today.
James: Glad to be here, thanks.
