A viewer recently got into a multiple car pileup caused by a tractor-trailer. She wants to know what her next steps should be. Truck accident lawyers Greg Fellerman and Ed Ciarimboli tell her what to do next.
Dave Kuharchik: Interstate 80 accident topping “The Law & You” today. Back with us, attorneys Greg Fellerman and Ed Ciarimboli and Greg today bustling with energy.
Greg Fellerman: I love to stand up.
Ed Ciarimboli: He loves standing up. We’ve got so many reviews. All we had to do for the last four years was put Greg on his feet.
Dave: The five-star rating system –
Greg: That’s what we do. We work on our feet.
Dave: Greg’s energy, five stars.
Ed: That’s good. Now he smiles, he laughs. It’s amazing.
Dave: It’s like he’s a new man. Here’s our question today. We know Interstate 80 can be a lot of trouble. Laure says, “I was traveling down Route 80 when a tractor trailer went sideways in front of me and caused a multiple car pile up. I was taken to the hospital by ambulance and had surgery on my shoulder. What is with these trucks and what do I need to do?”These accidents, I hate to say it every day, but they happen quite often.
Ed: Every day, every single solitary day. Laure, we’ve handled -what happened when a truck goes sideways, that’s called a jack knife. Tractor trailers only jack knife as a result of driver error. That is the most common reason for a tractor trailer to jack knife. Either there’s over acceleration or over braking. If there’s over acceleration, that means that the roads might of been slippery and they lost traction. Obviously, over braking, they weren’t paying attention and they weren’t driving defensively, which is what is required by a professional truck driver to do all the time. That’s why they jack knife. These are very common claims. We see them all the time.
Greg: What we’re seeing with 80 is it’s more busy. That’s what’s going on. It’s not going to stop. Ed answered the legal end of it, and I’m going to tell you there’s more truck traffic in Pennsylvania than ever before and it’s only going to continue. We’re getting truck accident cases all up and down the 80, 81 corridor. Ed was just up in Canada taking depositions on a case that involves something on 80. These trucks are coming from all over and it’s only going to get worse. It’s going to get busier. It’s good for commerce and it’s good for business but we’re going to have a lot more accidents.
Dave: Easy legal advice. If you need it the number and the web-site are on you screen. Results matter with the very energetic Greg Fellerman and attorney Ed Ciarimboli. Thanks we’ll see you next time. pahomepage.com and “The Law & You” hot line are there for you.
