What is Going on With the Opioid Lawsuits?

The attorneys at Fellerman & Ciarimboli are involved in multiple lawsuits against the manufacturers and distributors of opioids. Attorneys Ed Ciarimboli and Corey Suda explain in detail what is happening with the lawsuits.

Dave Kuharchik: It is time once again for ‘The Law & You.” We’re talking about opioid lawsuits tonight. Attorneys Corey Suda and Ed Ciarimboli are here. Greg is still out.

Ed Ciarimboli: He’s getting ready for Christmas. Getting ready for the holidays.

Dave: A lot of preparations here. A couple weeks of prep here.

Ed: Hey, somebody’s got to do it

Dave: I guess. Alright, here’s our question tonight and we’ll get to it. Obviously, there’s been a lot in the news lately about opioids and heroin and deaths. Victor in Berwick says, “I see that you guys are involved in the opioid lawsuits. What is going on with it?”

Ed: Yeah so we currently represent, along with some national partners, we currently represent Luzerne County and Columbia County in the opioid litigation. Basically, the opioid litigation right now are cases against the manufacturers and the distributers of these products. There’s RICO suits- a civil RICO case that’s also involved as a result of the collusion between these two companies or to the manufacturers and the distributors. This opioid epidemic, it’s not going anytime soon. The complaints are- you know Corey actually helped draft a lot of the allegations in the complaints. They’re very serious; They’re very significant, and hopefully these lawsuits will have the effect of being able to help curb this epidemic to some extent.

Corey Suda: Absolutely. The community at large has been truly affected by this crisis. These lawsuits will hopefully help the community and getting over the opioid addiction.

Ed: We have a meeting set up with six other counties in the next couple of weeks. It’s a very serious problem. Our president has declared it a national epidemic. That doesn’t happen every day. They are very serious. People are dying every single solitary day as a result of this really tragic epidemic.

Dave: Of course, on the legal end of things if you need advice or direction you could give the guys a call or of course check them out online. Results matter with attorneys Corey Suda and Ed Ciarimboli. Guys, we’ll see you again next time.

Ed: Thanks Dave

Corey: Thank You

Dave: and “The Law & You” hotline are there for you.
